Rethinking the workspace— Flexibility, an attitude that can change the life of workers with migraine.
MIGRAINE CAUSES ABSENTEEISM AND, WHAT’S WORSE, PRESENTEEISM. Ignoring this fact will not make it less real.
These situations can be avoided by offering minor adjustments at the workplace for those who need them, and what’s more important, by adopting a respectful and flexible approach to the patient’s needs.
○ Flexible working hours and location when possible.
○ Time off for medical appointments.
○ Allow workers to have regular food and water breaks.
○ If leaving work or working from home is not an option, having access to a quiet room can help relieve the migraine episode as well as delaying its attack.
BEING COMPREHENSIVE ON MIGRAINE SUFFERERS’ NEEDS AT WORK CAN HELP THEM FEEL MORE OPEN TO DISCLOSE IT, AND AS A CONSEQUENCE, CREATE BETTER WORKPLACES FOR ALL THE COMPANY WORKERS.
